I’m a licensed psychotherapist, weight loss coach, and busy mama to two kiddos and a fur baby. You may be wondering, if you’re a therapist why do you also provide weight loss coaching?
Well, let me tell you! A few years ago, I had my first baby. I never imagined all the changes my body would go through. The worst for me was the weight gain. I gained a total of 50 pounds and lost 24 immediately after the baby was born. Not what I expected.
Imagine my shock when the other 26 pounds hung around and I discovered NONE of it was from the actual baby.
So there I was. I was supposed to be so happy because I had this newfound bundle of joy. But I wasn’t happy. I also got nailed with Postpartum Depression. But that’s a whole different story for another time 😉
Instead of fully enjoying my brand new baby, I became distracted by how uncomfortable I felt in my body. I tried to practice self-acceptance, but it just didn’t work.
I didn’t WANT to learn to accept feeling that way.
So I bought a gym membership and started working out. Because that’s what you’re supposed to do right?
Imagine how defeated I felt when 8 months later I was the EXACT same weight as when I started.
I knew something had to change. I didn’t know where to turn or who to trust. Every time I ran a Google search I would find conflicting information which left me more confused than ever.
I wanted to throw my laptop out the window. Not only did I feel completely lost, I felt miserable in my body and was STILL wearing maternity clothes.
I knew I needed help.
That’s when I made the decision to TRULY love my body. I knew my son deserved a mom who felt better in her skin. I knew I deserved to feel better in my skin.
I invested my time, energy, and money and worked closely with a fitness trainer who taught me all the trade secrets that actually made weight loss as easy as possible. Trust me, this is coming from someone who used to HATE exercise and did not want to change her diet.
Fast forward to today. I feel proud and confident in my skin. My weight loss journey taught me that I’m stronger and more disciplined than I could have ever imagined.
I feel energized and powerful. I’m constantly in awe of what my body is capable of. This fueled my desire to help other women all over the world feel amazing in their skin too!
At this point you may be wondering:
“What makes you different from other weight loss coaches?”
I hear ya. With so many “coaches” and other fitness professionals out there it can be confusing and hard to know who to trust.
As a psychotherapist, I have the added advantage and training necessary to target the psychological barriers that get in the way of weight loss. This is a HUGE puzzle piece that’s missing in the fitness world. Most professionals focus only on diet and exercise. Yes, we need those pieces to lose weight, but what do you think gets in the way of your follow through? Your mindset.
Nothing makes me feel more alive than helping women feel empowered in all areas of their life.
The body is just one way to feel more confident and empowered. I do so much more than help women JUST lose weight.
I truly love helping women break free from the old stories and beliefs that keep them stuck spinning their wheels.
